On the flight, 6 tons of essential goods including food, water purifier powder, household appliances… from the Vietnam Red Cross Society were transported by Bamboo Airways, promptly delivered to the people of the Central region in the early afternoon of October 20.
A day earlier, Bamboo Airways received an urgent dispatch from the Vietnam Red Cross Society, requesting the airline to transport goods free of charge from Hanoi to Dong Hoi (Quang Binh), one of the provinces that suffered heavy damage due to the historic flood.
Immediately after that, Bamboo Airways urgently asked the Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam for permission to operate a special charter flight, carrying only relief goods and outside the regular operating hours of the Hanoi – Dong Hoi route of the airline to promptly support the Central region.
The relief goods were carefully preserved in the passenger cabin of Bamboo Airways’ Airbus A320 to ensure the best quality when they reached the people of the flood-affected areas.
Standing at Noi Bai International Airport to directly supervise the flight, Bamboo Airways Deputy General Director Nguyen Ngoc Trong said: “The entire leadership and staff of Bamboo Airways are urgently prioritizing the completion of flight services, so that necessities can reach our compatriots as soon as possible.”
Specifically, for individual air tickets, Bamboo Airways will give away/refund air tickets (including taxes and fees) to all organizations and individuals carrying out relief and charity activities in the Central region, including members of relief groups of the Red Cross, front organizations at all levels, independent charities, independent individuals, etc.
For charter flights, Bamboo Airways applies preferential policies for individuals and organizations wishing to conduct charter flights to serve relief and charity activities on both Bamboo Airways’ regular routes and other routes.
Regarding cargo transportation, Bamboo Airways receives and transports free of charge relief goods from social organizations, businesses, groups, individuals… to people affected by floods in the Central region, including transportation fees, fuel surcharges, related costs…
Bamboo Airways continues to closely coordinate with the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committees at all levels to focus on transporting relief goods to these areas, with the aim of bringing necessities, goods, and medical supplies to people as quickly as possible. Specifically, relief goods will be reserved and prioritized for free transportation on Bamboo Airways flights from Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City to Vinh, Dong Hoi, and Da Nang.
Sharing the losses of the people in the Central region, all staff of FLC Group and Bamboo Airways volunteered to donate working days to the people and soldiers. The airline also established the Charity Fund for the Central Region to receive financial and material support from its staff.
These gifts will be handed over by the leadership and staff of Bamboo Airways to the authorities and people in the Central provinces.
